Overview:

This contest invites NASPEM student members (undergraduate or graduate) to create infographics based on their recently published research. The goal is to create an engaging and informative visual representation of the research findings that can be easily understood by a non-expert audience. Infographic topics should align with the mission of the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine (NASPEM).

There are two categories: A) general entries, and B) research representing commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and access. See details on category B under “submission requirements” below.

Prize:

The winner of each category will receive a cash prize of $200*. All suitable infographics will be displayed on the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine website and shared on social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook. The infographic may be considered for publication in the Pediatric Exercise Science Journal.

*Participants can be assessed in both categories, but will not be eligible to win the cash prize in more than one category.

Eligibility:

This contest is open to students registered as a NASPEM member at the time of submission.** The supervisor of the student must also be a member of NASPEM. For membership information, click here.

**Group submissions are allowed, however, the primary submission must be made by a NASPEM student member.

Submission Requirements:

1. Infographic Topic: The infographic should be based on recently published research, with consent from the study author, and align with the mission of NASPEM.
2. Infographic Design: The infographic should be visually appealing, easy to read and navigate, and should include appropriate visual aids. The infographic should be created in a high-quality image format. There is no size requirement, however infographics are limited to one page and should use a size optimal for web viewing.
3. Infographic Content: The infographic should accurately and clearly convey the key findings of the research or article. The content should be written in plain language, avoiding jargon and technical terms that may be difficult for a non-expert audience to understand.
4. Sources: All sources used in the infographic should be properly cited.
5. Submission Format: An entry form must be completed at the time of submission. Infographics should be submitted as a PNG file. Entries with incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria:

1. Accuracy and Clarity: The infographic should accurately and clearly convey the key findings of the research or article.
2. Visual Design: The infographic should be visually appealing, easy to read and navigate, and should include appropriate visual aids.
3. Creativity and Originality: The infographic should demonstrate creativity and originality in the design and presentation of the research findings.
4. Effective Knowledge Translation: The infographic should effectively communicate the research findings to a non-expert audience and demonstrate an understanding of how the findings can be applied in practice.
5. Representation of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access: Participants can elect to be assessed in this category. The infographic should demonstrate a commitment to representing diverse perspectives and promoting equity, diversity, inclusion and access. Both content of the research and associated images will be assessed for alignment.

Submission Deadline:

Submissions must be received by 9:00 AM EST July 10, 2023. Winners will be notified by email and announced on the NASPEM website and social media platforms.

Note: By submitting an infographic, participants agree to allow their infographic to be shared on the Pediatric Exercise Science journal website, the NASPEM website, and social media platforms, under the discretion of the NASPEM Board of Directors and the Pediatric Exercise Science journal editor.
